Davidson Law Group wins $224,000 in attorneys’ fees for successful appeal of trademark victory at Ninth Circuit.
On December 21, 2018, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit awarded over $224,000 to Davidson Law Group’s client Melli Yellow Pages for the firm’s successful defense of a judgment of non-infringement and invalidity of trademarks relating to directory services. The Ninth Circuit noted that the appellant’s arguments raised a number of issues attacking the district court’s findings and rulings, with several contentions raised for the first time on appeal or without sufficient discussion. This required Davidson Law Group to respond with a brief that discussed, in detail, each of these various contentions. Previously, the Ninth Circuit had affirmed a separate award of over $292,000 in attorneys’ fees for the defense of the claims at trial, making the total amount of attorneys’ fees awarded to Melli Yellow Pages for its successful defense of the claims $516,000.
